16-year-old shot in leg in Cleveland Heights; police investigating

The victim was hit in the leg and their injuries were not deemed to be life-threatening. Officials say 'this was not a random incident.'

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — Police confirm a 16-year-old was shot in the leg late Monday morning in Cleveland Heights.

Officials say the incident occurred just after 11:15 a.m. when an unknown suspect or suspects fired multiple bullets into a home on the 3300 block of Berkeley Road. The victim was taken to a local hospital and later released after suffering injuries that were not deemed to be life-threatening.

Detectives recovered a number of shell casings from the scene. According to authorities, "It appears this was not a random incident."

The incident remains under investigation.
