Man barricaded inside of Olmsted Township home arrested, residents allowed back inside homes

CUYAHOGA COUNTY, Ohio — Residents evacuated from Olmsted Township neighborhood as suspect barricades self inside home

Man barricaded inside of Olmsted Township home now in police custody, resident allowed back in homes

A portion of an Olmsted Township neighborhood was evacuated after a suspect barricaded himself inside a home Thursday afternoon.

The situation affected the immediate area around the 8500 block of Homestead Drive, some streets were blocked off as well.

Just before 3 p.m. officials confirmed that the suspect surrendered peacefully and is now in police custody. The scene is now safe all previous closures have been reopened.

It remains unknown what the suspect is accused of, but the standoff apparently started around 3 a.m. According to police, the evacuation of residents was taken merely as a "precaution."
