Shaker Heights police save baby deer from pool at Thornton Park

The deer was saved by Shaker Heights Patrolman Andrew Chenevey

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — EDITOR'S NOTE: The video above previously aired on 3News on July 2, 2022.

From time to time, animals end up in swimming pools with humans. More often than not, it’s a family dog happily cooling off on a hot summer day.

However, there are times when a wild animal accidentally ends up in a residential pool and must be saved.

This week in Shaker Heights, this was the case when a baby deer found its way into a pool at Thornton Park.

As seen in the video below, the baby deer was saved by Shaker Heights Patrolman Andrew Chenevey.

According to the Shaker Heights Police Department, the baby deer was unharmed by the experience.

When swimming pool passes were advertised in Shaker Heights, this little guy didn’t realize it was intended for humans, and only at Thornton Park. We like the enthusiasm, but we're glad we could help the newcomer live to swim another day! #SHPDFURidayWildlifeEdition
