Solon bus carrying high school marching band crashes on way to football game in Shaker Heights, driver taken to hospital

The incident involved the bus and another vehicle near the intersection of South Woodland and Woodbury Roads, less than a mile from Shaker Heights High School.

SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — Police say a Solon school bus that was transporting the high school's marching band crashed while on the way to the Comets' football game against Shaker Heights late Friday afternoon just after 5:30 p.m.

Officials tell 3News the incident involved the bus and another vehicle near the intersection of South Woodland and Woodbury Roads, less than a mile from Shaker Heights High School. Details regarding what led up to the collision are not known at this time, but authorities say the bus driver was taken to an area hospital.

No one else was injured in the crash, according to police. The game went ahead as scheduled, with the Comets beating the Red Raiders 22-21.
