SOLON, Ohio — A 55-year-old Solon bus driver was taken into custody at the Solon Jail after testing positive for alcohol during a random screening.
According to the Solon Police Department, Cristina Krusinski of Solon was arrested and cited on Tuesday for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence, Commercial Vehicle Prohibited Acts, and Endangering Children.
Solon Police officers responded to the school bus garage after an administrator reported that a bus driver had A level of .07% Blood Alcohol Content during a random screening. Krusinski's level was above the legal limit of .04% for commercial vehicle drivers, which includes school bus drivers.
Upon responding, officers observed cues of impairment from the driver, who also provided a positive breath test via a portable police breath testing device.
According to an initial investigation, Krusinski had operated a Solon City Schools bus before the random alcohol test. Officials believe that she possibly drove as many as 49 elementary and middle school children to school.
Solon Police officials noted, "The action started with the positive alcohol screening. No additional causative factor was reported, such as a complaint, crash or traffic violation."
The bus driver has since been released on a personal bond posted by a family member. The case will be processed in Bedford Municipal Court.
