CLEVELAND -- Public corruption investigators have subpoenaed records regarding high-level county employees and Hyland Software, a county contractor based in Westlake.
Cuyahoga County Executive Armond Budish says he's in the dark as much as anyone. He spoke exclusively with 'The Investigator' Tom Meyer, telling him he has done nothing wrong. He described the three individuals named in the subpoenas as good, hard-working employees.
Investigators issued subpoenas for emails exchanged between Chief Information Officer Scot Rourke and Hyland Software and also emails between Hyland and IT General Counsel and Director of Special Initiatives Emily McNeeley.
Another subpoena called for files related to Chief of Staff Sharon Sobol Jordan, who is set to leave her position to head Unify Project after working three years under Budish.
Investigators requested Jordan's personnel files, reimbursement requests, time off requests and other work-related records..
Context behind the investigation is not detailed in the subpoenas obtained by WKYC Friday.
The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office refused to comment on the investigation. When asked if the FBI was assisting with the investigation, the prosecutor's office declined comment.
It was just under a decade ago that a federal investigation led to corruption charges and lengthy prison terms for former county commissioner Jimmy Dimora and county auditor Frank Russo.
