Euclid police: Man dies, multiple injured following 6 crashes around I-90, Lakeland Boulevard

46-year-old Cleveland resident Damon D. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene.

EUCLID, Ohio — One person has died and several others were hurt following a total of six crashes in Euclid Tuesday afternoon.

Police say at least one wreck took place on Interstate 90 eastbound near Babbitt Road while another occurred nearby on Lakeland Boulevard. A man identified as 46-year-old Cleveland resident Damon D. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene, while a child was among the injured and was treated by paramedics without being taken to the hospital.

For much of the afternoon and evening, just two lanes were open on I-90 east as well as one lane on Lakeland, with the Babbitt Road exit on the highway closed completely. Shoreway traffic was backed up for more than four miles all the way towards the Collinwood railyard in Cleveland before the scene was finally cleared.
