Cleveland – Attacked on the floor of your own home is one thing. Watching and listening to your mother being killed right next to you is altogether different.
The message Nohemi Ayala had for neighbors at a Wednesday night vigil was as simple as it was tragic.
“What we ask of you is prayers. For my mother. No one should have to live thru having their parent, mother murdered beside them,” she said.
Her mother, 74-year old Marina Garcia has bleeding on the brain and a complete shattered sense of security.
"She wakes up with night terrors, its difficult for her to rest,” Ayala says.
Her grandmother, 94-year old Eucebia was killed in the early Monday morning attack inside the Gertrude Avenue home the two women shared.
Police have few leads – but the family says investigators have been incredible attentive to their needs. Neighbors say they want their Slavic Village streets patrolled more aggressively.
Cleveland Councilman Anthony Brancatelli told neighbors Wednesday night, “We have four to five more police cadet classes coming on – you will see more police.”
