MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio — A boil advisory has been lifted for Strongsville and Middleburg Heights customers following a water main break.
Tests showed there were no hazardous materials in any water sample. The water is currently safe to drink and use as normal.
Cleveland Water staff noticed a significant drop in the water pressure at the Engle Road pump station around 2:24 a.m. Monday, leading to the discovery of the break. Officials say the break was shooting up water 4 feet high.
By 9 a.m., crews had the leak isolated and pressure began to improve. Crews were able to re-route water, meaning all customers should have water.
"Customers in the affected area include those south of Fowles Road, west of I-71 and north of Boston Road and bounded on the west by our service area boundary, which is the Cuyahoga-Lorain county line," authorities say of the boil alert.
The following Strongsville schools were also closed as a result: Strongsville Early Learning Preschool (Lunn Rd. Location ONLY), Muraski Elementary, Whitney Elementary, Strongsville Middle School, & the SCS Administrative Offices. All other buildings remain open.
