WAYNE COUNTY, OHIO, Ohio — A 41-year-old Orrville man identified as Adam Sartin has died following a crash involving a pickup truck and a semi in Sugar Creek Township.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol says it was around 2:38 p.m. Tuesday when deputies responded to the scene on US 30 at the intersection with Kohler Road.
That’s where authorities say an eastbound semi was stopped to make a left turn onto Kohler Road when it was struck in the rear by a 1999 Toyota Tacoma.
The driver of the Toyota, a 45-year-old man from Massillon, was extricated from the vehicle and taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Sartin, who was the right-front passenger in the Toyota, died as a result of the crash.
"Neither the driver nor passenger of the Toyota pickup were wearing safety belts," according to a press release from OSHP.
The driver of the semi, a 34-year-old man from Pleasantville, New Jersey, was not hurt.
US 30 was closed for approximately two hours while crews worked at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by multiple agencies, including Dalton police, Kidron fire, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Wayne County Coroner’s Office.
