EDWINS Leadership and Restaurant Institute is expanding its reach within the Northeast Ohio community yet again.
On Thursday, the organization that provides formerly incarcerated adults with a foundation in the culinary and hospitality industries, announced the acquisition of a multi-level apartment building. The new building, located in the 2900 block of South Moreland Boulevard, boast more than 8,000 square feet and seven units.
The new building will expand student and alumni housing starting in the fall of this year after a brief renovation. The apartment building will join EDWINS Second Chance Life Skills Center.
“Additional Buckeye neighborhood property acquisitions have always been part of the plan for us, and this project comes at an especially important time,” said Brandon Chrostowski, founder, CEO and president of EDWINS Leadership & Restaurant Institute.
The building purchase was made possible, in part, by a three-year commitment from KeyBank and joins landscape-changing projects such as the EDWINS Butcher Shop and EDWINS Bakery in the Buckeye neighborhood.
Openning in 2016, the Life Skills Center provides EDWINS' students and alumni with a host of amenities including a gym, library, technology, learning facilities and other support services.
"We’re grateful that the community has rallied around us as we do whatever is necessary to provide local students with the opportunity to realize their dreams of having a career in the dining industry. Now, because of GTL and the Browns, we can reach even further and help those who are still incarcerated across the country as they start down their paths to success," said Chrostowski.
