The FBI is working with the Cleveland Division of Police to announce a new case review in the case of the missing child, Ashley Summers, as well as a search of a local property for the teen who went missing from Northeast Ohio in 2007.
On Tuesday, the FBI conducted searches on both Train Avenue and W. 43rd Street in Cleveland, looking for any sign that the missing girl may have been near the area. This came after the FBI reportedly received a tip a week ago as to the girl's location.
After a seismic search of the area, officials did locate bones but later identified the remains as having come from an animal.
Ashley was last seen in July 2007 in the W. 96th Street and Madison Avenue area of Cleveland. However, some reports place Ashley's last known whereabouts in the 1100 block of Holmden Avenue and the 3400 block of W. 44th Street.
Along with the Cleveland Division of Police, the FBI has also reached out to the Violent Crime Task Force and Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team, as well as the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI) to help with the new case review. Officials from the various agencies are currently contacting individuals that knew Ashley or may have had contact with her prior to July 2007.
Anyone with information as to what happened to Ashley is encouraged to reach out to law enforcement as soon as possible at (216) 522-1400. Reward money is available for info leading to the successful location of Ashley or the successful identification of anyone involved in her disappearance. Officials say that tips can remain anonymous.
