1 taken to hospital after escaping house fire in Chardon

​Chardon Fire Chief Justin Geiss said one resident escaped the home and called 911 from a neighbor's house to report the fire.

CLEVELAND — A person is being treated at a hospital after escaping a house fire in Chardon early Friday morning, the city's fire chief said. 

According to Chardon Fire Chief Justin Geiss, firefighters responded to the call on Taylor Wells Road at 1:37 a.m.

Geiss said one resident had escaped the home and called 911 from a neighbor's house to report the fire. 

The resident was taken to a hospital to be observed for symptoms of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by Chardon Fire Department personnel. 

Chardon firefighters received help on the scene from the Hambden, Burton, Munson, Kirtland, Chesterland and Newbury fire departments, Geiss said.
