A Cleveland animal rights group is planning a gathering this Saturday that will protest the 10th annual Coyote Open, a four-day event taking place in Ohio that sees the largest coyote killed net the winning hunter a cash prize.

Cleveland Animal Save claims at least 60 people are planning to attend the protest, with another 200 or so expressing interest. The group also says it has reached out to police in the event any "aggressive counter-protesters" show up.

"We will be protesting this cruel event, calling attention to its inhumanity, and showing the city of Chardon that we do not, nor will we ever approve, this type of 'entertainment' in the city," the group wrote on Facebook.

The protest is planned for Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at Chardon Square. Weigh-ins for the Coyote Open will be taking place at an undisclosed location. The city says it has nothing to do with the planning of the hunting event.
