With Spring just over two weeks away, it's maple season in Northeast Ohio.
At Swine Creek Reservation in Middlefield, they're tapping trees for their annual "Saps-A-Rising" celebration.
The hands-on, educational event at Geauga Park District features FREE historic demonstrations on maple sugaring, a part of life here in the region since it was a Native American tradition.
Activities for all ages also include sap-gathering in the sugarbush with a horse-drawn sap sled, sugar house tours, stations about historical maple sugaring with costumed interpreters and free samples of fresh syrup and maple treats.
Inside the Swine Creek Lodge, guests can warm up with live music and a crackling fire.
The 32nd annual Sap’s-a-Risin’ Sundays runs from March 4, 11 and 18, from noon to 4 p.m.
