MIDDLEFIELD, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a crash on Thursday morning involving a Cardinal Local School District bus in Geauga County.
Ohio State Highway Patrol officials say the crash happened between the bus and a 2007 Nissan Versa at 8:29 a.m. at the intersection of George Road and Chipmunk Lane in Burton Township.
Officials say that at the time of the crash, 15 students, ranging from 5-9 years old, were being transported to A.J. Jordak Elementary School in Middlefield. None of the students on board suffered any injuries.
Initial investigations reveal that the school bus was traveling north on Chipmunk Lane and failed to yield to the right of way after stopping at a stop sign and attempting to make a right-hand turn onto Georgia Road. The bus struck the Nissan on its passenger side.
The 67-year-old bus driver was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign.
Both the bus, as well as the Nissan, received minor damage from the crash, but were able to be driven away from the scene.
