CLEVELAND — A motorcyclist from Portage County was killed after colliding head-on with a pickup truck on a Geauga County road Friday afternoon, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

According to a press release, troopers were called to the scene of two-vehicle a crash in front of a home on Clairdon-Troy Road in Burton just before 4:45 p.m.

Troopers say Benjamin Derousse, a 49-year-old from Mantua, was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on the road and passed two cars before hitting the truck head-on in the opposite lane. The impact forced Derousse off the road into a ditch and ejected him from the motorcycle.

Derousse was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say it is "unknown" if alcohol was a factor in the crash. Derousse was not wearing a helmet at the time.

The highway patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
