CLEVELAND — With just a short amount of time left to fill out the 2020 US census, it’s crucial that Ohioans make sure they are counted.
This year it’s easier than ever to fill out the census, because everyone with internet access can do it at My2020Census.gov.
It’s important to be counted because the census is used to decide many things that directly and significantly impact our daily lives.
For example, the results of the census determine how many seats Ohio gets in the U.S. House of Representatives, as well as where boundaries are drawn for national and local voting districts.
As you can imagine, these things decide how much of a say Ohio gets when it comes to federal laws, and locally, how much say your neighborhood gets at the state level.
The census results are also used to determine where about $900 billion in federal funding goes.
This money is used for things like Medicaid, Medicare, Special Education Grants, foster care and fixing our roadways, to name just a few.
There’s no time like the present, so fill out the census at My2020Census.Gov.
