CLEVELAND — It's that time of the week again! Time for your good news break- where we share some of the most heartwarming, uplifting, and happy stories of the week, to make you smile. Here's what we've got on tap this week.
First up- meet 64-year-old Steve Wargo. At his young age, Steve will be swimming 12 miles of Lake Erie later this summer for charity! His laps will benefit the City Mission, one of the biggest homeless shelters in Cleveland. Steve will start his mission somewhere between July 29 and August 12, depending on water conditions. We got to talk to him about why this is important to him, and how he thinks it will go! By the way, did we mention it's his 4th time doing something like this for charity? Way to go Steve!
Next- meet the local McDonalds owner who treats all his employees like family. Tony Philiou has owned the Mayfield Heights McDonalds for decades, but closed the restaurant to in-person dining during COVID-19 for renovations. He finally got to re-open it last week, to flowers from the community, and tons of grateful employees. They were especially happy because despite not working, Tony made sure his employees were paid.
By the way, speaking of employees, we actually know one former worker there. Our own Hollie Strano's first job was at this McDonalds, and she says she can testify to how great Tony is. Congrats on the re-opening from all of us at 3News!
We also want to shout out a local teen, who is on-point! (That was a pun, we can explain.) North Ridgeville High School junior Lillian West recently won the USA High School Clay Target League's female division. This means she was best in target shooting- Lilly hit 197 out of 200 targets!
This was a national championship, and this is the first year the league had a female division. Way to go Lilly!

For our Win of the Week segment, we want to thank all of you. Though Stephanie shares different wins of her own each week, putting this show together every week has been our true win. We say that with the bittersweet news that It's All Good News will be on a bit of a hiatus for now. Stephanie has some new projects to explore at 3, and we are re-imagining what this show could look like in the future.
We want to thank you, the viewers, for not only watching this show but interacting every week! We love to see what makes you smile, because it makes our day, too. With that, we say, we'll see ya next time friends.
