CLEVELAND — It’s graduation season, which means many people will be on the hunt for their first job out of college.
There are roughly 8.9 million job openings, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. If you were thinking all of those openings will go to experienced workers -- think again.
Talent solutions and business consulting firm Robert Half says 65 percent of companies in a recent survey noted they plan to hire entry-level workers in the first half of 2024.
“Entry level professionals or recent grads can really bring a lot to an organization, including helping to fill skill gaps," says Jill Turski, regional director at Robert Half. "Many are tech savvy and possess skills with most up-to-date tools necessary to help organizations with innovation and growth."
Here in Ohio… Among jobs requiring at least a Bachelor’s degree, the fields projected to have the most openings are registered nurses, accountants or auditors and elementary school teachers, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
One big tip for standing out? Research the company you’re applying for beforehand. That research can prepare you for questions you may be asked during the interview process and give you more confidence throughout.
