MANSFIELD, Ohio — The Richland County Sheriff's Office on Thursday announced the arrest of John Henry Mack Jr, a suspect in the February kidnapping of Melinda Kay Davis.

An arrest warrant was issued for Mack Jr., the ex-boyfriend of Davis, on Feb. 26 after the woman went missing on Feb. 25.

Law enforcement says that Mack Jr. was located in the Mansfield area thanks to a combined effort between the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), Richland County Sheriff’s Office, and the Mansfield Police Department.

The various agencies responded to the area of East 1st Street and South Adams Street and arrested the man without incident.

Sheriff Steve Sheldon stated, “The task force has been operating for over 10 years in the Mansfield area and cases like this are exactly why we will continue to work with our local and federal partners. Law enforcement across the country worked day and night, shrinking this suspect’s world and he had no where else to run.”

On Wednesday, police in Shelby asked the Richland County Sheriff's Office to check Mack Jr.'s residence in the 500 block of Cliffside Drive in Mansfield to see if either Davis or Mack were there. No one was at the home at the time.

Earlier this week, the U.S. Marshals Service offered a $5,000 reward to anyone with information that lead to the arrest of Mack Jr.
