LAKE COUNTY, Ohio — Two people were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle accident involving a pickup truck, a school bus, and an SUV in Lake County on Friday afternoon.
According to a release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office, the incident happened at approximately 3 p.m. on Ravenna Road near State Route 84 in Concord Township.
Deputies say a Ford F-350 was headed southbound on Ravenna Road just south of the intersection of Liberty Street and SR 84, when it crossed a double yellow line, striking a Riverside School District bus. The truck then continued southbound in the northbound lane, hitting a Buick Envision SUV head on. While the SUV came to a rest, the F-350 continued south before going over a guardrail into a ravine. It was suspended on the ravine partially by a small tree and stump.
Fire personnel were able to free the driver of the F-350, who sheriff's officials say is an adult male. The man was taken to MetroHealth Trauma Center for his injuries. His condition is unknown as of Friday night.
There were three children on board the school bus when it was hit. No injuries were reported and the bus sustained only minor damage. The driver of the Envision suffered minor injuries and was transported to Tri-Point Medical Center for treatment.
While the incident remains under investigation, the Lake County Sheriff's Office says alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Ravenna Road was closed for approximately three hours as crews worked to retrieve the F-350 from the ravine.
