Man killed in crash on I-90 in Wickliffe, all westbound lanes now open again

Police say the 87-year-old driver was headed east when he went through the grassy median and hit a dump truck. He later died at the hospital.

WICKLIFFE, Ohio — An 87-year-old man is dead following a crash that left all westbound lanes closed on Interstate 90 in Wickliffe Tuesday afternoon.

According to police, the man was driving his blue Subaru SUV eastbound on I-90 when he went through the grassy median at around 1:30 p.m. His car then slammed into a dump truck that was headed west.

The victim was taken by ambulance to University Hospitals Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby, but died there from his injuries. His name has not yet been released.

Officials say the driver of the dump truck was unhurt, however the wreck shut down I-90 west between Bishop Road and Euclid Avenue for the rest of the afternoon. All lanes were open again by 6:30 p.m.
