A Northeast Ohio man who was on trial for a double homicide that took place in Concord Township in 2020 committed suicide outside of the Lake County Court of Common Pleas Friday afternoon, the Lake County Sheriff's Office confirms.
According to Lake County Sheriff Frank Leonbruno, 28-year-old Blake Sargi died after shooting himself outside of the courthouse following the news that the jury had reached a verdict in his trial.
Sargi, who had been out on bond since July 2020, never entered the courthouse, according to Leonbruno.
The 28-year-old was on trial for the shooting deaths of 38-year-old Heavenly Goddess Murphy-Jackson and 39-year-old William Larondez Jackson Jr., who were killed while inside of their SUV in Painesville Township in July 2020.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office says that an investigation is underway and will be conducted by the Detective Bureau and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
