LAKE COUNTY, Ohio — A 63-year-old man, who has been identified as Jeffry Wyman, was arrested late Monday night following a SWAT standoff that lasted nearly five hours in the 1600 block of West Jackson Street in Painesville Township.

Authorities say it was just before 10 p.m. when the Lake County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the scene in reference to a disturbance.

Upon their arrival, deputies found a 56-year-old woman with an apparent gunshot wound to her leg at a neighboring residence.

“Additionally, at least one neighboring home was struck by gunfire,” according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. “The male suspect was reported to be the victim’s husband and had retreated into their residence.”

A perimeter was set up as the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Regional SWAT Team was activated.

The suspect ultimately surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident following the standoff, according to authorities.

Wyman has been charged with felonious assault, but additional charges are possible pending the outcome of the investigation.

The victim was flown to University Hospitals in Cleveland. Authorities say her injuries are not life-threatening.
