Lake County Sheriff's Office: Man arrested after attacking 4 people at homeless camp with saw

LAKE COUNTY, Ohio — A man is in police custody Monday after attacking four others at a homeless camp with a saw. 

Officials responded to the area of N. Ridge Rd. between Bacon Rd. and Fairport Nursery Rd. in Painesville Township for reports of a woman running in the area, covered in blood and screaming for help. 

Police located the woman and learned the incident involved five homeless individuals who had been living in tents in a nearby wooded area. 

An altercation took place in the woods and one of the men residing in the woods attacked four other individuals with a hand-held saw, police report. All but one victims were able to flee the scene until help arrived. 

The victims include one woman and three men. All four victims sustained injuries from the saw and were transported to local hospitals. Their injuries range form moderate to severe and life threatening, police report. 

The suspect was later taken into custody by police and charged with felonious assault. He is being held at the Lake County Jail.
