Man arrested after fleeing from traffic stop in Lake County; found in trailer with meth and illegal prescription narcotics

The 19-year-old man, whose name has not been released, is scheduled to appear in Painesville Municipal Court on Thursday for arraignment.

LAKE COUNTY, Ohio — A 19-year-old man is in custody in Lake County after fleeing from sheriff's deputies and being found in possession of drugs at a trailer in Madison. 

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies stopped an Audi for a "traffic offense" that happened on North Ridge Road in Perry Township. During the stop, the passenger in the vehicle got out of the car and fleeing the scene on foot. Deputies pursued the suspect on foot as he fled into a trailer at the Sahara Mobile Home Park in Madison Township. 

Deputies and detectives from the Lake County Sheriff's Office surrounded the trailer, receiving permission from the homeowner to enter. The homeowner told authorities that the man was a friend of hers. Members of the Madison Township Police Departments along with several police K-9s assisted at the scene. 

The 19-year-old man was found hiding in a small hidden compartment under the floor and insulation of the trailer. Once identified, the suspect was found to have two misdemeanor failure to appear warrants from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. He was also found in possession of methamphetamines and illegal prescription narcotics. 

The suspect, whose name has not yet been released, is scheduled to appear in Painesville Municipal Court on Thursday for arraignment on his warrants, as well as for charges of resisting arrest, obstruction, falsification, and felony drug possession.
