Mentor Beach Park and trails at Lagoons Nature Preserve closed until further notice following storm damage

The City of Mentor is also asking residents to report all power outages to FirstEnergy.

MENTOR-ON-THE-LAKE, Ohio — The City of Mentor has announced that Mentor Beach Park and the trails at the Mentor Lagoons Nature Preserve are closed until further notice.

The closing comes due to downed power lines as a result of last night's storm that impacted thousands across Northeast Ohio. 

A 3News crew witnessed the damage impacts at the Mentor Lagoons Marina on Friday morning. Those pictures can be seen below:

Mentor-on-the-Lake police tell 3News that the owner of the below vehicle was going to the store to get food for her son's graduation party when the pole landed on the front hood of her car. 

Police say the woman was stuck inside her vehicle for an hour before FirstEnergy responded. However, the woman was not injured in the accident

The City of Mentor is also asking residents to report all power outages to FirstEnergy.

 The City of Mentor is also asking residents who lost power are asked to do the following: 

  • Report your outage online. You can log into your online account to view the status of a reported outage, or view their outage map.
  • Text OUT to 544487 (LIGHTS) to report an outage via text message. Text STAT to 544487 to receive an update for your reported outage. If you’re not enrolled in text messaging, text REG to 544487 to get started.
  • To report an outage via phone, call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877).
  • Customers with a communication disability can report an outage using the appropriate TTY/TDD relay service, their online form, or text messaging.

FirstEnergy is reporting that as of 1:05 p.m. on Friday, 901 Mentor residents still are without power.
