Mentor: Car crashes into building after driver loses consciousness behind the wheel

The driver has been taken to the hospital. No details on his condition have been released.

MENTOR, Ohio — A 70-year-old man from Willoughby was taken to the hospital after crashing his vehicle into a building in Mentor.

At approximately 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, the Mentor Police Department and Fire Department responded to a an accident at an office building for an adjoining church on the 6800 block of Reynolds Road.

After an initial investigation of the incident, Mentor police found out that the driver of the vehicle was traveling southbound on Reynolds Road when he lost consciousness. As a result, he drifted off the road, struck a tree and crashed into the building.

No additional details have been revealed at this time. Stick with 3News as more information is released.
