MENTOR, Ohio — The Mentor Police Department is urging drivers to slow down and move over after an officer was nearly struck during a traffic stop.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the City of Mentor reminded the public that Ohio law requires drivers to slow down and change lanes when approaching emergency personnel, hazard vehicles or tow trucks stopped on the side of the road.
City officials emphasized that the law is critical for preventing traffic-related incidents, which claim numerous lives each year. "Losing officers or first responders in the line of duty isn’t an option," the City of Mentor said on X.
