MENTOR, Ohio — All parties are safely accounted for after an overturned boat was found washed ashore early Monday morning near Headlands Beach State Park in Mentor.
“It was determined the vessel was found in distress yesterday offshore of Euclid, and the occupants were taken ashore by good Samaritans in another nearby vessel,” Mentor city officials said in a press release Monday. “The boat overturned sometime overnight in rough waters and washed ashore.”
There were no reported injuries.
Authorities responded to the scene after a person walking along the beach called 911 shortly after spotting the overturned boat around 7 a.m. Monday. Crews on scene found a 20-foot fishing boat along with miscellaneous debris.
Multiple teams responded to the beach, including fire and police from Mentor, Painesville, Perry, Fairport, the United States Coast Guard and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
No additional details were immediately available.
