PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The investigation is underway after a fire completely destroyed a house in Painesville in the early morning hours of Thursday.
According to a Facebook post by the Painesville City Fire Department, crews were called to a house fire in the 600 block of East Erie Street at approximately 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday. Firefighters arrived to the scene and found flames and smoke coming from the west side of the home.
Painesville Fire Chief Thomas Hummel says fire personnel began a defensive fire attack, utilizing several hose lines and an aerial master stream.
First responders, including members of the Painesville Police Department, determined that no one was inside the home and all of its residents were safe elsewhere. The fire was finally brought under control at 1:21 a.m.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
Hummel says the house is a total loss, with no value estimate available at this time. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by PCFD investigators and members of the East End Fire Investigation team.
