CLEVELAND — A 23-year-old Painesville man is in custody on charges that he shot and killed his father, police said Sunday.
According to a press release from the Painesville Police Department, officers responded to the 300 block of Sanford Street just before 1 a.m. Sunday to investigate a shooting. Police allege that a 67-year-old man was fatally shot inside his home by his son.
The suspect was arrested at the home and taken to the Painesville Police Department where detectives interviewed him and charged 23-year-old Christopher Paul Farmer with murder.
Police did not identify the name of the victim.
The 23-year-old suspect is being held at the Lake County Jail without bond. He will be arraigned in Painesville Municipal Court on Monday afternoon.
Police are still investigating the alleged shooting.
