PAINESVILLE, Ohio — The Painesville Police Department is investigating the attempted armed robbery of a 15-year-old boy Wednesday.
Officials responded to the area of Maple Elementary School, located in the 500 block of West Jackson Street, for reports of two teen threatening another with a firearm just before 2 p.m.
According to dispatch, the two suspects were running from the scene. Officers arrived and were quickly able to apprehend all parties involved.
According to police reports, a 13-year-old black male and 15-year-old black male used a replica firearm in an attempt to rob a 15-year-old white male while in the school parking lot of Maple Elementary School.
Because the incident occurred in close proximity to Maple Elementary School and Our Shepherd Lutheran School, both facilities were placed on a brief lockdown to ensure safety.
No injures were reported.
The two teen suspects were taken into custody and transported to the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center.
