On Wednesday at around 2:50 a.m. Willoughby police responded to an apartment complex on Lost Nation Road after learning of reports of 6-8 gunshots being fired in the area.

While searching the area, a Willoughby officer allegedly heard several shots being fired in his direction. Willoughby police noted that no one was injured or hit in the incident. Immediately after, neighboring police agencies assisted with an unsuccessful search for the suspect.

Willoughby's detective bureau was called out to the scene, and evidence was located, collected and secured for investigation. While continuing their investigation, Willoughby police determined that a previous incident was connected to the reports of shots fired.

Willoughby police were notified of an alarm going off at a local business on Lost Nation Road at around 11 p.m. on Tuesday. Officers responded to the store and found that someone had tried to break into it. In addition, security footage showed several suspects outside of the business.

Willoughby police actively followed up on both cases on Wednesday, initiating foot patrols through the apartment complex and the neighboring streets. Later that day, an officer located a possible suspect walking on Lost Nation Road. Police identified and arrested two more suspects and found the firearm, which was allegedly used to fire shots in one of the incidents.

"These two incidents were determined to be connected, but the actions were isolated to that morning. Both incidents were resolved quickly and efficiently, with no one being harmed and three suspects in jail," said Willoughby Hills police in a Facebook post.

The Willoughby Police Department also shared on social media that they are working to keep their city safe and secure.

"We have an incredible city from the shores of Lake Erie to the interstate with so many wonderful neighborhoods, residents, and businesses.  If you need us or see something unusual, please call us as we’ll be there for you.  As your Willoughby Police Department, we will always keep bringing it strong to keep our city safe and secure," said Willoughby's police chief, Jim Schultz.
