'We can't make this stuff up': Willoughby police catch reptile in man's backyard

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — Well, you don't see this every day!

Willoughby police were called to a man's backyard for a large reptile that was found on Thursday.

"If you happen to get home later and notice that Norman (That is what I have decided to name him), is missing, please contact Herps Alive in South Euclid," said Willoughby police in a Facebook post. 

Willoughby police say that in order to make sure "Norman" was properly handled and cared for, they were assisted by the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, Dr. Dennis Summer DMV Ohio Dept of Agriculture, Matt the reptile guy and Keith with Herps Alive Foundation. 

In addition, ODNR wildlife officer Ryan PAwlus also helped Willougby patrolmen Butcher and Thompson.
