WICKLIFFE, Ohio — The Wicklilffe Police Department continues to investigate the death of a 35-year-old woman found unresponsive in a hotel room.
According to reports, on Sunday, December 19, officials responded to the Fairbridge Hotel, just before 4:30 a.m., for reports of a woman screaming for help.
At the scene, police were directed to the room and found the door open. Inside, officers located a partially clothed woman lying on the floor and a naked man standing inside the room.
The woman, who was unresponsive, was identified as 35-year-old Jessica Sturdivant of University Heights. Officers began CPR on her until members of the Wickliffe Fire Department arrived and transported her to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
The naked man, also found inside the room, was identified as 38-year-old Sellewyn Dancy of Cleveland. While inside, Dancy failed to respond to commands from officer and was detained.
On December 24, Sturdivant was pronounced brain dead and later died. The details surrounding her death remain unknown at this time.
Dancy was initially charged with felonious assault, however following Sturdivant's death, more serious charges are expected.
He is currently being held without bond at the Lake County Jail.
