Someone special to Macon’s history called into Tuesday night’s Bibb commission meeting, rock ’n’ roll legend Little Richard.
Commissioners were discussing whether to not to give the Community Enhancement Authority $90,000 to fund the Little Richard Penniman house.
The former home of the Penniman family is now a community resource center in Pleasant Hill.
Stanley Stewart, Richard’s cousin, got the music legend on the phone.
“I hope that and I expect you guys to keep it. I hope they do whatever they could because that home for me is for everybody to enjoy,” said Richard.
Commissioners did agree to give the money to run the center on top of the $10,000 they originally designated for the project.
