LORAIN -- Police announced the arrests of two suspects for the robbery and assault of beloved radio personality Jim Allem Popiel that occurred last October.
Known by Lorain natives as Jim Allen, he was attacked in his Regina Avenue home as he was sleeping in late October. He said he'd heard a knock at the door, which he ignored. Moments later, two men were in his bedroom demanding money and one knocked a phone from Allen's hand.
Allen previously told WKYC one of the suspects struck him across the face with what appeared to be a gun. The attack left him with bruises around his eyes and nose.
The suspects fled with Allen's phone and wallet when the home's security alarm sounded.
On Friday, Lorain police announced the arrests of two 18-year-olds. Police say the suspects were juveniles at the time of the crime, but both have since turned 18. Police have not released their names since their cases remain in the juvenile court system. They face charges of aggravated burglary, felonious assault and kidnapping.
