AMHERST, Ohio — Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst was placed on lockdown on Tuesday, according to the school's official Facebook account.
In a post on their account, school Superintendent Mike Molnar said school officials put the lockdown in place because of a "threatening message" written inside one of the girls bathroom stalls.
After putting the school on lockdown, Amherst police along with school resource officers secured the building and escorted students out of the school and into their buses and personal vehicles, dismissing them for the day.
The post also said the threatening message included the names of certain students at the school.
After an initial investigation, police along with school officials were able to identify the person responsible for the message.
Superintendent Molnar said classes will resume as normal on Wednesday and the person responsible for the message will not be in attendance or on school property.
