AVON -- Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen has ordered all flags on city properties be lowered to half-staff to honor Vu Nguyen, the Cleveland police officer who died during a training drill last week.
Nguyen was an Avon resident.
The city is asking Avon business owners to also fly flags at half-staff Wednesday until sunrise Friday.
Nguyen died last Friday, days after he collapsed during a training exercise. Temperatures reached the low 90s that day, but an official cause of his collapse and death has not been publicly released.
Funeral services for Nguyen are scheduled for Thursday morning.
The Cleveland police union has created a fundraiser for Nguyen's family. He leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
