SHEFFIELD LAKE, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a fire broke out at a Sheffield Lake home.
Fire officials responded to a fire at 4171 Belle Avenue on Friday night just before 10 p.m.
Upon arriving at the home, crews found heavy fire conditions at a single-story home. A neighbor, who had entered the back of the home to alert the residents, was assisted out by fire officials and was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
The family was not home at the time of the fire, but two dogs died as a result. Currently, the residents are staying with relatives due to the amount of fire damage.
At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Sheffield Lake Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Avon, Avon Lake, Bay Village, Life Care, Lorain, Sheffield Village, Sheffield Township and the Lorain County Fire investigators.
