ELYRIA, Ohio — One Elyria firefighter was treated for a minor burn Tuesday night, which officials say was the result of a magnesium explosion while crews worked to extinguish a fire.
Fire officials say it happened while Elyria firefighters were battling a semi-trailer fire along the Ohio Turnpike.
Elyria Fire Chief Joe Pronesti tells 3News the situation started around 11 p.m. when the truck had a mechanical failure of its brakes.
The firefighter -- who was not seriously hurt -- was wearing protective gear.
Fire officials did not provide a more specific location of the fire.
No additional details about the incident were immediately available, but Elyria Firefighters Local 474 shared multiple photos from the scene on Facebook. You can see their pictures in the post below.
