AVON LAKE, Ohio — There is some sad news from Lorain County.
John Christ Winery, a staple of Avon Lake for many years, has announced that it will be closing permanently on October 1.
"We have come to a point in time, after suffering through the Covid years, that we find ourselves without a full time manager and wine maker," John Christ Winery wrote in a Facebook post. Unfortunately we need to close our doors and regroup for the future."
For those customers who have gift certificates, John Christ Winery asks that you please use them during open hours by Oct. 1. John Christ Winery will be open on the following days:
- Friday: 5 p.m. - midnight
- Saturday: 10 a.m. - midnight
- Sunday: 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.
The winery says that there are no current plans for any building to be done on its land.
"This has been an extremely difficult decision to make," John Christ Winery added in its Facebook post. "We will cherish the fun and good times and appreciate everyone who supported us over the years!"
