Lorain gas leak

LORAIN, Ohio -- A number of buildings in downtown Lorain were evacuated early Tuesday due to a natural gas leak.

The gas leak has been contained and the roads reopened.

The impacted area was within W. 6th Street to W. 5th Street and Broadway and it has now reopened.

Columbia Gas remains at the scene.

According LFD, the leak occured when a construction crew nicked a pipe during construction on Broadway.

There was a strong smell of gas that wafted through the air from time to time but that has now gone away, according to the WKYC crew at the scene.
