OSHP: Lorain man arrested after allegedly crashing vehicle into Amherst Township home

The driver was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence and was taken to the Lorain County Jail.

LORAIN COUNTY, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a vehicle struck a house in Amherst Township. 

OSHP responded to reports of a crash on Friday morning at around 4:36 a.m. on State Route 113 in Lorain County. 

Upon arriving at the scene, troopers found that a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado had veered off the road and collided with a house on Telegraph Road in Elyria. Fortunately, the house was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Officials say that the Silverado was traveling westbound on State Route 113 when he crossed the center line and went off the left side of the road, ultimately striking the house. 

The driver, identified as a 36-year-old Lorain man, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. His passenger sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to University Hospital in Elyria for treatment.

The driver was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence and was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Lorain County Sheriff’s Department, Amherst Township Fire Department, Life Care EMS, Ohio Edison, and Full Throttle Towing.
