ELYRIA, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a man was injured in a dump truck crash in Lorain County.
Ohio State Highway Patrol officials say the crash happened on Monday at around 9:34 a.m. on Route 20 east in Carlisle Township.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Sterling dump truck operated by a 27-year-old man from Cleveland was traveling east on Route 20 in the right lane. Officials say that the dump truck bed was raised as the vehicle was in motion, resulting in the truck striking the overpass at State Route 301.
"Dirt from the dump truck was spilled onto the road. The dump truck came to a controlled final rest in the gore off the south side of US Route 20," said Ohio State Highway Patrol in a media release.
OSHP says that the driver of the dump truck sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
The crash initially closed all lanes of Route 20 east, but the road has since reopened.
OSHP was assisted at the scene by the Ohio Department of Transportation, the Lorain County Sheriff's Office and Kufner's Towing.
At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
