Lockdowns lifted after possible threat investigation at Lorain High School; controlled release underway

Lorain High School was under a Level 2 lockdown, meaning there was a potential threat outside the building.

LORAIN, Ohio — A controlled release is underway after Lorain High School and three other schools were placed on lockdown Thursday morning.

According to the district's Twitter account, Lorain High School was on a Level 2 lockdown, meaning there was a potential threat outside the building. As a result, all doors and windows were locked and no one was permitted to enter or leave the building.

The lockdown has since been lifted and students will be released. Buses will arrive at the school for those who need them.

The district also says all extra curricular activities, including parent-teacher conferences, have been canceled.

Lockdowns at General Johnnie Wilson Middle School and Jacinto and Washington elementary schools have also been lifted. Those schools were under Level 2 lockdowns, meaning all doors and windows were locked and no one could enter or leave the building, but normal school operations are continuing.

Details of the potential threat have not been released.
