LORAIN, Ohio — A Columbia Station man is in critical condition following an accident involving a street sweeper in Lorain.
Lorain police say the accident happened Monday morning shortly before 11 a.m. over the Henderson Bridge.
Police say the street sweeper was in the outside lane of the bridge when it was hit from behind by the driver of a 2008 Chevy Colorado pickup truck.
The driver of the truck was taken by LifeCare to MercyHealth for treatment of his injuries. Police say he was not wearing a seat belt and was driving with a suspended driver’s license.
The driver of the street sweeper declined medical treatment on scene.
The Henderson Bridge was closed for several house while officials investigated the scene.
At this time, no charges have been filed.
Drug abuse appears to have played a role in the crash.
