A North Olmsted woman is dead after she crashed her car head-on into a semi-truck in Lorain County Friday afternoon, highway troopers said.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened on U.S. Route 20 near the intersection of Quarry Road in Pittsfield Township around 4:45 p.m.
Troopers said Tammy Alam, 51, was driving her Chevrolet Blazer eastbound on U.S. 20 when veered left of center into the westbound lane and crashed into a semi-truck driven by a 53-year-old Milan man. The impact sent Alam's car off the north side of the road where she hit a snowmobile that was for sale in a yard.
Alam was pronounced dead at the scene.
U.S. Route 20 was closed for about six hours while troopers investigated and the roadway was cleared.
Troopers do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the fatal crash. As of 12:47 a.m. Saturday, the investigation remains ongoing.
